Irmo, SC -- Broad River Developers, a Columbia based developer, has made its debut with the introduction of the Westcott Ridge development in the community of Irmo, South Carolina. Westcott Ridge is a product of Broad River Developers; a local development and construction business started by father and son, Paul and Bryan Clifton.
Both South Carolina natives, Paul and Bryan have an in-depth understanding of the geographical, social and economic factors unique to the area. Prior to starting their joint business venture, both enjoyed successful careers. Paul had a successful career with Colonial Life and Accident, serving as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a decade. After retiring, he also served as Chairman for The Lexington Medical Center. Bryan has over ten years experience in both banking and residential construction. Paul explained, “Our career backgrounds are evident in the current business practices and goals we employ for Higher Grounds. When we create a certain business plan we see it through to the end, re-evaluating and revisiting our initial vision each step of the way.”
That initial vision was to create a community that would provide homeowners with the luxury of an affordable custom-built home in a beautiful natural setting.
Even though clear-cutting the land would have allowed for easier building, Paul and Bryan chose to preserve the natural landscape by leaving many of the trees and wetlands that run through the development untouched.
"It’s not about how quickly we can complete the development, it’s about creating an environment that people will want to live in. Every decision we make we examine from the perspective of a potential homeowner, rather than a developer,” explained Bryan, “Which is part of the reason we chose to develop in the Irmo/Chapin area.”
Irmo, is not only home to one of the state’s best school systems, Lexington-Richland 5, in addition to Chapin, which has been consistently ranked among the top three in South Carolina. In addition to good schools, Irmo/Chapin has been experiencing steady economic growth that is likely to increase even more with the opening of a new Wal-Mart, located less than three miles away from Westcott Ridge, in April of 2009. Also close by is the beautiful and expansive Lake Murray, offering boating, swimming, fishing and numerous other recreational activities.
Paul and Bryan’s strong belief in building a community around the desires of the modern homebuyer is evident in Westcott Ridge’s planned amenities.
